Hi All
I m midway through renovating (Cosmetic largely) my Grade 2 listed Terrace. On all walls ive got lovely lime plaster generally in great condition. However on the stairs and hallway I seem to have the following:
1: Lime plaster finish, marked with lines to look like stone block work ie pattern
2: On top of this there is yellow paint what looks like emulsion
3: On top of emulsion there was a 1mm ish skim of plaster to finish then recent wallpaper and several coats of Emulsion
As ive removed all the wall paper some of the 1mm of plaster has come off, some hasnt. The rest of it is perfect.
My question is:
1: How do i smooth this out to paint? Do i try to reskim in lime and if so do Im guessing i need to get off the emulsion?
2: Would it be easier, feasible to use a heavy lining paper?
For clarity these are stari ways and landing so either internal walls or the wall adjoins next door terrace ie not external
Im enjoying the journey, and have found some awesome items under the floorboards (letter from 1860 with stamp addr envelopes, newspapers and childs gloves!).
Best
