4 Old Queens Head Cottage is a charming two bedroom Grade II listed cottage, which forms part of the old 'Queens Head' public house. The cottage dates back to approximately the 17th century, with more modern extensions to either side. It offers many period features and is constructed of a timber frame and rendered elevations, beneath a thatched roofline. For many years the cottage has been used as a popular and successful holiday cottage, but could also suit those looking for a main residence. For further details of the holiday letting business, please contact the office for more information.
On entering you are welcomed into the cosy sitting room. Here you will find a large understairs cupboard (currently housing a freezer) and also a feature fireplace. A door leads from the sitting room into a small lobby with an airing cupboard adjacent. Beyond is the bathroom which has a bath with shower over, wc and hand wash basin. To the other side of the cottage is the kitchen, which has recently been refitted by the current owner. The kitchen comprises modern cabinets, a ceramic sink, built in oven & hob, integral fridge, with space for a washer/dryer.
On the first floor is a small landing space with access into the two bedrooms. The double bedroom easily fits a king size bed, with a small storage recess inset into the wall.
To the front of the house there is off road parking for up to two vehicles and garden, which wraps around the side of the property. The garden is mainly laid to lawn, and being of a modest size it offers the opportunity for low maintenance. Although the garden is in proportion to the house, there is ample room for an outside table & chairs, perfect for alfresco dining. The garden is fully enclosed by wooden fencing with a pathway cutting through the lawn. Please note a neighbouring property (No 3) has a right of way through the garden.
The cottage is situated in the pretty hamlet of Little Green, Thrandeston which is set around a natural pond and in a Conservation Area. Thrandeston is convenient for access to the thriving market town of Diss, providing a wide range of facilities with schooling to sixth form level, local and national shopping, sporting and social amenities including an 18 hole golf course with driving range, rugby, cricket and football clubs. There are good transport links in this area with Diss having a mainline rail station on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street Line, a journey to London taking around 90 minutes. Both Norwich and Ipswich are around 25 miles away via the A140. The A143 leads to the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, around 25 miles away, connecting to the A14 to Cambridge, Newmarket and The Midlands.
From Diss proceed in a south westerly direction along the A143 towards Bury St Edmunds. Turn left signposted to 'Thrandeston' and upon entering the village, turn right onto Mellis Road. Just beyond, the property will be found on the left hand side.
