1930s Semi detached house

Hi, I'm new on here so please be nice if I come across stupid.

I would a 1930s semi detached house. It was built circa 1936-38 and would have had art deco features 80 years ago. The house is double glazed now, wooden suspended floors, pantry.

However, every so often I hear the house moving or making a noise and get worried its going to fall part. Is this normal?

Late 1920s semi here, so similar age, but lacking any Art Deco features. Hear the occasional creak, either at night as the building cools down, or in the morning when we get bright sunshine during the winter. Even remember waking up one night as the house shook, thinking "that was an earthquake". Rolled over and went back to sleep
House is still standing, and no signs of structural failure.

A lot of the 30's housing stock in Birmingham, particularly in the B29 & B30 parts of the city is very shoddily built, barely any foundations, single skin external walls, just shocking. People build extensions to hold their houses up!
