I have a 1950s ideal standard bathroom sink and pedestal I am trying to install. I can't figure out how it can be mounted to the wall. No available brackets look like they will work. Last plumber stuck it to the wall with silicone, but the finish was poor. Any guidance gratefully received.
Usually such basins are supported by the pedestal and a couple of simple brackets mounted underneath and fixed loosely to the wall behind. They're used merely to prevent someone inadvertently pulling the basin away from the wall. See below from Toolstation.
When installed vertically the brackets will operate as hooks, rather than clamps, and it would be necessary to 'lift' the basin in order for it to come free.
