does anyone have advice for the most effective and sympathetic way to clean / restore 150 year old soft wood scissor trusses? I’ve started wire brushing them by hand, not sure what to do next. We have 18 of them so want to get it right first time. Thank you.

Is it safe to assume that these trusses are typically fully exposed and visible from the room(s) below?
What are these rooms used for - kitchen/lounge/bathrooms?
Are the trusses stained in any way due to damp incursion or spills of other liquids?
Why do you believe that cleaning is necessary?
Are they constructed of planed or rough sawn timber?
How often do you expect to have to clean these trusses in the future?
