Looking for advice. Just moved into Victorian terraced house, original metal air vent at front under bay window. No sign of air vent at rear of property. I’m installing a drainage channel to take water away from rear wall of house but baffled as to why there is no vent there. I’ve dug about 2 feet down also but no sign. Any advice gratefully received.

Do the rooms to the rear of house have solid floors or are they of wooden plank construction?
There is a kitchen extension half the width of the house with a solid floor, it appears to be brick built on old foundations which I’m assuming was an old wash house. 4 meters of original wall at rear. I thought the vent would have been opposite the one at the front!

Any air brick at the rear of the house will have been lost when the extension was built - they are not necessarily directly opposite each other. It may be possible for a new air brick to be installed a viable location os available.
