Attaching reclaimed fireplace... just loops?

Hi All,

Just fitting a reclaimed cast iron fireplace in my home. We've done this once before and on that occasion the Cast Iron fireplace had 'ears' that you allowed for a screw to be put through attaching to the wall...

However I've just picked one up and the only fixings it seems to have are two iron loops on the back. Picture below:

Does anyone know how I would go about fixing this?

Or drill your own screw holes and get some nice black japanned screws to fix it

Strange how some things just grab my interest, been noodling over this one since it was posted yesterday.

Assuming that those rings are not intended to be removed while the grate back is fitted then the only thing that makes sense to me it that they are the 'eye's' that receive a 'post' and in the grate is installed by lowering the rings on to the posts.

Think vintage iron gate hanger and you'll see that I agree with Twig that they need corresponding 'hooks' fitted to the receiving fireplace surface.
