CCTV Listed Building Consent

To borrow a most excellent phrase from somebody on here, my neighbours house is being 'toshed up by a flipper'. It will not be the main residence. So much grief caused by absent 2nd home owners

It is B grade (Scotland) listed.

Intrusive CCTV cameras have just been installed, pointing at a public access path and partially pointing at my garden. No friendly conversation about this plan. Surely you need listed building consent for this?

Consent from the relevant authorities would be required in my view. Contact your local councils planning office and ask if it has been sought and granted.

That was my view also. It definitely hasn't been sought or granted. I was notified of the plans and went over them with a fine toothed comb like any right minded nosy neighbour

They have already breached the major condition of their planning by using concrete roof tiles instead of clay pantiles. I was kind of prepared to let that slide in the name of not having a dispute with the neighbour.

As another thread on here was discussing with the state of local authorities budget there are no checks on whether planning is adhered to. Not really comfortable with it being down to me to 'shop a flipper'.

Data protection applies in Scotland too and the local authorities are obliged not to reveal the identities of informants. Shop the bugger.

Is there no such thing as building control in Scotland? I'd have thought that something like a new roof (or re-roofing and existing one?) would require BC sign-off, precisely to stop this sort of thing where concrete tiles are likely to be heavier than clay tiles and therefore could have serious structural implications.

Yes, a building warrant is required for structural work. But my understanding is that retiling, if like for like, doesn't need one.

Probably a topic for another post but a proactive approach with fines may help deter this behaviour. I'd happily take a reasonable salary inspecting properties in my district for recently passed LBC and I guarantee I would recoup my own costs in a month for breaches AND top up the coffers with a small fine which would increase if not rectified. I would also be up for reintroducing the stocks for the more serious breaches

Well as you've said they won't be there full time and I doubt the local council will reveal your identity. I'd be a bit miffed if there were cameras pointing in my direction. I have a suspicion one of my neighbours already has a partial view of my back yard with a camera but its a rarely visited space.
