Coat Claypaint on old lime plaster- help!

Hello,
We recently removed peeling lining paper from the walls in our living room to discover old lime plaster in poor condition. I sanded and filled hairline cracks using lime putty. Used a watered down initial coat of coat claypaint (and pre wet the walls) which all seemed to absorb well and evenly. Did one extra coat over the top with non watered down paint.
Coverage was good but still had a few patches so did one final coat yesterday.
This morning it has dried and is far more patchy and streaky. Just did another coat and it looks like it’s still drying streaky- you can see the paint lines of the roller. When i was painting i was going edge to edge and it all looked like it was going on evenly. What should i do to deal with the streaks? Do i need to do yet another coat and buy even more paint?!

I’d leave it for a week or two before leaping in with more paint.

If moisture is in the wall and can now escape that will be creating patches that look darker as the moisture passes through or alternatively will make the paint take longer to dry.

If you can, set up a fan blowing across the face of the wall as that will help speed things along

Generally I found with Earthborn clay paints, light colours would take 2-3 full coats until I was happy with the finish - but absolutely wait until this coat has completely dried out before considering whether another is needed

I’m really surprised to hear this. I’ve used Earthbourne clay paint to colour our entire 5 bedroom house onto fresh lime render/plaster. I’ve never experienced a paint so thick, viscous and able to give a finish with a single coat as Earthbourne. I’d contact them for advice if I was you.

Well it was 4 different colours of Earthborn on a house I moved out of 4 years so I don’t think it was a technical issue and also the moment has somewhat passed

I mean one coat “would do” but I was rarely happy leaving it like that, hence usually doing a second coat

Unrelated but visually that plaster appears to be pink gypsum. Are you certain it’s lime?

The ceiling was gypsum, and the walls had been patched repaired in places with gypsum and normal filler, but it was definitely lime- could see the clumps of old horse hair in the patches that were loose.

We’ve only done a couple of our walls so far but all applied directly to dry lime plaster. Do the instructions on the tin tell you to first wet/damp the walls? We didn’t do that. I wonder if as others have said, it’s this additional moisture leaving the uneven finish.
