hello!
I've 2 rooms to paint - one of which is effectively in a basement (the garden is above) and the wall in here which needs painting has old paint that is a crumby/chalky in places, and there is a small section where salts are coming through. Above this room is the second one i also need to paint. This room gets cold, and there are existing water marks - I know there is a non-breathable paint currently on these walls. Ideally I'd like to just buy one paint to do both rooms -
- so I was thinking either a Contract Matt (at least I can afford this!), which I believe would offer the breathability that annoyingly salt wall needs, and I can just use in the room above.
OR I need to try and fork out for something like Auro 321 / similar.
Would anyone be able to advise? Most paint shops advise against contract matt due to the lack of durability, and some have suggested the Zinsser Grade 1 (which I know there have been some comments on this site about but nothing very recent). The Zinsser has many good claims but the price is too much - unless it's really that good - has anyone used?
I know in the past people have discussed contract matt etc - and I hope no one minds me still asking about it! Any suggestions as to which one (Dulux Supermat, Crown Covermat, WRX Contract Matt etc)
I know ideally I'd solve the issues in the walls however, with what I know it would take, I just can't afford it at all.
Any advice really would be very welcome
