Restoration stone cottage

Exterior rendered, advised not to. strip render and repoint, to exterior wrap with insulation wrap, presumably wrap is permeable?? Has anyone come across this??

Who provided this advice? Doesn't seem right at all. Any idea what the render is made from? Stone should be either pointed with lime, rendered with lime or painted with lime wash or other paint with no nasties that will trap moisture.

A builder ?? We renovated an old stone workers cottage and we became very aware of the need to use lime mortar etc, so I was concerned re this "wrap" which seems to be recommended to use to improve insulation in conjunction to improve performance of air pump heating installation!!

I'm not familiar with air source heat pumps in period properties but I'm sure other members will be. I get what the builder is saying in theory but probably not a suitable (and potential damaging) option on an older property.
