do I need to "seal" interior window ledge stonework?

Good morning, I hope I can get some good advice on this:

I've removed gloss paint and a thin layer of plaster from these cotswold stones that make up a window sill. Over time I assume that children will sit on them, put drinks on them etc. Do I need to "seal" it in anyway? I believe that you do this to stones used for flooring, not sure about other types of stone-work

You don't need to, but you could...
The sills get a lot less abuse than a floor and can be easily cleaned if you want, or they can gently develop a patina over time (just avoid cleaners with limescale removal properties!). But if you want to keep them more pristine then a sealer would help - just do a test somewhere to see if it changes the colour more than you want.

I think I'll do that and test a small area for colour change. There might be condensation trickling onto them in winter months and cat leaving muddy paw prints.
