Dormer - Rotten rafter end at wall plate

Hey all,

Need some advice. This roof rafter (pink arrow) has some rot where it meets the wall plate (blue arrow). The rest of the rafter is fine and no signs of rot elsewhere. I would like to future proof it in some way before we start putting wood wool board up. My guess is to sister it or maybe install some noggins to neighbour rafter. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Sorry no easy answer here. That rafter is providing direct support to the others. If its end has rotted out for some reason then ultimately 'all' of them will begin to drop under their own weight and that of the of the roofing materials above. You need also to be wary of snow loads and point loads from anyone working on the roof. Without stripping the tiles and other roofing to gain access to repair or, ideally, replace it, your best option would be to install a vertical prop immediately below it to carry the weight. However, you should consider this a temporary solution and should check all others as well.
