Electrical box rage

I waited a long time for this cable to be re-routed but when they came they would only replace the old connection with this ugly box.

This surface in this area is going to be finished with wood wool and lime render, but I'm struggling for creative and attractive ways to handle the box.

Maybe a decorative grille of some kind?

Does anyone have any good ideas?

It will be wood wool followed by lime render then a lime ochre limewash.

So a blank canvas in other words. Depending on the shape of that plastic door you might consider a phoney outer cover to hide it. I've seen some that consist of coats of arms, fleur-de=lis, lions rampant, gargoyles etc. Whatever takes your fancy really. But then again... may be a Cloak and Raft?

Haha. If only it was simple to source appropriately-sized heraldic panels. The closest thing I can find are fire backs but these are not really the right shape.

Well, I could have some combined feature that takes into account or hides both!

A low-key solution would be to cover the box with a wooden panel, maybe accoya, set neatly into a frame in the render. This could be lime washed like the render (I think).

A couple of years back I had some serious Mickey taken out of me by some who felt my experiments with decoupage were not in keeping with my personality and character.

Its incredibly easy to do and all you may need is a good and suitably sized image of say.. Odysseus....and you're off and running.
