Hello, I’m completely new to period property ownership and I’m trying to gather tips and knowledge on how to restore my cottage sympathetically Unfortunately, the builder who renovated it has used a lot of modern materials like concrete render on the interior and there are many decades worth of masonry paint on the exterior to not appear to be breathable. I have high levels of damp in one corner (up to 80% in winter) and walls and I’m certain this is contributing to it significantly along with concrete rendering inside, being on rising ground and being west facing (gets ALL the weather). I am planning to try and remove this myself so if anyone could share any wisdom or guidance, it would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance!
