Hi,
I wonder anyone could advise please or had a simillar issue.
I live in a grade 2 listed converted barn with sandstone layers around the bottom.
The previous owner used bad builders and had some steps and ledge built in front of the sandstone and used Portland concrete.
Should I lift up the slabs on top of the steps in the photo and look to see if the yellow sandstone is healthy, or ignore it?
If I ignore it will the foundations fail? Or are the steps the new foundations?
If the steps are full of concrete should I remove and rebuild them?
(The yellow sandstone behind the concrete ledge was wet and powdery in places hence my concern)
Thanks
Steve
