heatloss calcs, mears...

Hello,

Could someone share a good resource for heatloss calculations?

I am aware of heatlosscalculator.co.uk, but are they very good? or reliable metrics?
I have heard of a mears calculator, but this is a physical calculator i believe, and can't use it online.

I used Sapper V9 (http://www.rusfa.com/downloads.htm)
It has a poor user interface and takes quite some working out how to use but it seemed to do the job.

I used the Mears calculator for many years in fact it was the only quick and reliable way of doing it. I suppose it over compensates a bit but I was never too concerned about that as long as the customer was warm. They are easy to use and, although I have the metric version, I never used it as I understood good old BTU's and couldn't get the hang of kilowatts and this chap Kelvin.

I worked with one plumber who just used to measure the width of the windows and stuck in a radiator that width!!!

Another thing I took no notice of was when the customer said he only wanted background heating and would then ring up and say they were cold.
