Heritage/ Listed building Style Survey

Hi All,

Its been a while since I've posted.
Things have moved on and I have secured a sale on a 18thC timber frame house.
Accompanied with cat slide roof, hung tiles, later brick infills and possible a W&D lower front.

Its an unlisted house but clearly sits in the bracket. apparently it was just 'missed'.

The house is in the weald of Kent, I'm looking for any recommendations of local surveyors.

I have 2 firms I've found but need a 3rd or more for a good comparison. Can anyone make any recommendations?

Also, does anyone have any anecdotes or guidance they can offer?

As this is my first endeavour, my experience is suppose, 'wet behind the ears'.

so feel free to point the obvious out. I don't mind reading it all again!

You’ll be pleased to hear that there are a few timber frame lunatics enthusiasts on here, who have provided guidance to those in a similar position.

I’m doing my diligence prior to survey. The rear half has had a recent double dormer put in upstairs. The current owners say a RAJ was installed and I can see a concrete pad over corner in the cellar suggesting some decent strengthening has been used. They tell me that the rear fram is essentially redundant now. I’ll take that with a pinch of salt.

The front of the house is seemingly original. The upstairs bedrooms have some floor bounce. Hard to describe as it’s the first house I’ve found a bouncy floor.

What dealings had you had with surveyors?

My approach is to gather all the info I can, submit a supplementary list of points for them to address along with the building certs and any other technical drawings I can get a hold of prior to the survey.

What else can I do in preparation for commissioning a survey?
