hinge suppliers

l am presently searching the internet for hinges for storm window shutters, really want to match up with the old hinges however l know this may not be possible. The hinges are an odd size (for todays market) 1 1/2" long and 3" wide, they are also plain with no decorative pattern. Does anyone know a supplier of old style hinges?

If not l will have to look at modern equivalents

They sound a bit like (vintage) car door hinges - thick and strong, extra wide and usually supplied undrilled. These http://www.a7c.co.uk/spares.php#bodywork for example are Austin 7 hinges - 1 1/2" long but only 2" wide. They tend to be a bit pricey! I found some wider ones when I needed some but cannot now remember where. Try searching for coachwork hinges.

Thanks for the links didn't find exactly what l wanted but found near enough on Gold & Wassall website, min order is 20 and l needed 12 so l have a few spare on the way

These folk used to be a good source of reclaimed odds and ends of hardware, with a huge stock of random stuff. They look as though they've got a bit smart since I worked in Witney, but they're probably still worth a try.
