Historic Building etc courses, Suffolk area

(I have no connection with or knowledge of the promoters and so can't vouch for the quality of their courses, though I do know of at least one of the speakers as an excellent craftsman and educator, and the prices seem reasonable)

I've actually been there for the one day introduction to timber frames repairs. They were in the early stages of renovating the barn and the facilities were very basic at the time. I know they have moved on a long way now and are making good progress. Very informative. I plan to book myself on a few more when time permits.

Rick Lewis of Traditional Oak Carpentry who provides the timber courses is the guy who came round to my house to advise me on the sole plate repairs and other matters. I definitely recommend going on his website and seeing the work his company does.

It is good that these courses are available. The craft and skill required to maintain and repair these acient buildings would eventually be lost with the possible exeption of museum examples.

You could come and give me a hand on Clipper Cottage and it wont cost you a penny. Lots of traditional building work going on here.
