Inspiring ideas and type of staggered brick chimney

In a grade 2 farmhouse but this brick chimney breast is not original. Bricks are modern and too similar in colour. Probably installed 80s.

Any ideas? How easy to replace current bricks for reclaimed bricks?

Or lime render chimney breast keeping oak beam exposed?

Please can someone tell me what style this staggered brick is and is it more European or American style

It doesn't look to stand too proud from the wall so could well be the original opening behind that. You might have a pleasant surprise if you started to take that skin of bricks off.
