Interior lime mortar mix

Hi - I'm getting differing advice online - what is the right mix for dubbing some deep holes in an interior stone wall please?

I have:
1:3 NHL 3.5 (Natural Hydraulic Lime) to builders sand.
Loads of horsehair.

Is this correct?

Not really, no.
That’s excessively strong, and will set very very hard and brittle once all is said and done.

Also, a mortar relies on the aggregate, builders sand is too fine. You’d need at least a 2mm grit to give some body.

What’s the stone?

Internally just a premixed, coarse, hot mix will be fine. Mix it with your hair, or use a daub or hemp mix - both will give strength and can be packed up to 20mm deep. For big holes, pack in bits of broken tile/slate/hard stone to fill gaps in and minimise the mortar.

Thanks., however, you're talking to a complete novice here!

All I have in my garage is the left overs following a Level 1 Lime plastering course I did 3 years ago; a bag of horse hair, half sack of non-hyrdated lime, half tub of putty and some builders sand. Can I make something using this?
What do you mean by a 'hot mix'? and what is a daub or hemp mix?
