Hey all!
I should have joined the forum when I was decorating, it could have been helpful upon reflection because I painted the already emulsion walls with more emulsion style paint, but hey, I have not had any damp issues so, fingers crossed. I thought since I got so many nice compliments on my house that you might all appreciate seeing a little more of it and the progress I have made, which so far has all been on the inside. As a bit of a designer by trade, I take a lot of pride in a schemed interior as I wanted something quite impactful!
Maybe this is inspiring and interesting! (Or maybe I just feel like showing off as I worked pretty tirelessly last year to decorate the interior and I am now officially poor. Compliments always help such a situation )
Biggest mission was the lounge, it was decorated okay but a bit bland for me, I wanted something cosy.
I used photoshop and estate agent photos to mock up a few ideas and settled on this:
I wanted the fireplace to contrast and compliment the chimney breast, whereas originally it simply blended into the magnolia wall.
I also then felt that the alcoves had lovely character worth drawing the eye and making more of a meal out of.
I was proud to do all the filling, sanding, painting and wallpapering myself.
Turned out like this:
And with some more accessories (although not properly sorted out yet, the decor bits and bobs need a re-arrangement and the yellow cabinet doesn't have its shelves installed)
And very very very expensive bespoke curtains (which were totally worth it but it still pains me to think how much I spent):
So the lounge is now "finished", other than sorting the cabinets out and finding art to adorn the walls over time. And maybe a sherlock chair for the bay?
In my next post, when I have some time, I will share what I did with the main bedroom as there is quite a dramatic scheme in there, too!
