Hi so I recently installed wood fibre boards with the intention of doing some of the initial plaster coat myself and then hiring a professional to do a proper job of finishing it. As I'd ended up with some extra bags of lime putty (from ecomerchant) I had a go at an initial coat with that, but I did struggle to get a reasonable thickness on (maybe only 3mm) and it's drying time seemed extra long (3 weeks appx). I've started getting quotes in now as it seemed like I was unlikely to even get a decent initial coat on, however some of the trades people are not keen to work with their preferred product (Lime Green Solo) over the lime putty and sand layer that's already there, and are suggesting that it should be removed so they can work directly on the wood fibre.
Can anyone offer any insight as to whether this is essential or not? I'd rather not remove it if possible (partly as it would feel like a massive waste, but also because it would require a fair amount of effort). But obviously the job needs to be done right.
Thanks for any help.
