Hello all
My wallpapering escapades continue as I move onto another room.
I have a room with what I think is 1970s wallpaper (see attached picture). The walls underneath appear to be smooth (can’t see any bumpy bits or crevices under the wallpaper), and I think it’s lime plastered.
I’m already pulling my hair out at the thought of stripping off this wallpaper, sanding, filling, sanding again…. So I thought I’d just wallpaper over it with Grade 1200 or 1700 lining paper. The existing paper is torn in just a few places and there’s some chasing from a rewire I had recently. I think I can patch it up so it’s all level before I wallpaper over it.
I just don’t know if this will backfire. Has anyone seen this type of wallpaper before? It sorta feels like fabric. And if I have to pull wallpaper off this room in the future, it will likely be during a larger renovation project.
Any advice would be much appreciated
