I can verify that, I spent all day on Sunday in my garage wrapping presents - only place that is out of the way of the kids! Panels look good.

Finishing a room, that sounds like a good target.

Hmmmm. I like the idea of targets, particularly achievable ones.

Trouble is, so does the First Lady, but she is less concerned with what may be achievable for me.

So far the draft 2019 New Year Resolution list she has for me includes: -

• 1. Finish the infill panel caulking project I started last year - the North and South faces and the largest naturally, of the house.
  2. Re-point the chimney stack - preparation for the 2020 (I hope) project to level the master bedroom floor.
  3. Strip out and lay floorboards, reclaimed from the year before lasts Bathroom/Dressing Room project, to the west wing bedrooms.
  4. Re-decorate the west wing bedrooms - making good any interior damage ensuing from from 1 and 3 above.
  5. Tear down and restore the now very drunken corrugated steel wood store - including excavating the circa ???? brick Earth Closet underneath it (nice).
  6. Etc.

Maybe she thinks I have too much time on my hands.

Hmmm....just discovered the list I made at this point last year....

The good news is I don’t need to start a new list for 2019 as only five out of the 18 items on the 2018 list are done! :lol:

I was just reviewing the latest contributions to this thread when a voice behind me announced the arrival of the First Lady - I have no idea how she can get so close without my being aware of her, must be a ninja somewhere in that family tree. :shock:

Having obviously read, over my shoulder, the list of projects I had included, a lengthy debate ensued concerning my 'apparent' attitude and concerns. In the course of which she casually pointed out the items I had overlooked and a few more additions she was considering. My protests, such as they were, were greeted with the following as she abandoned the conversation to deal with something more important - "you (meaning me) have to understand that getting all these things done heavily depends on how much longer your knees or hips will last; we have to finish this restoration before we can start on yours".

Oh how true. Having spent a rather horrible couple of hours stripping and reapplying the sealant around our walk in shower over the weekend, my knees were shot to pieces with all the kneeling and crouching.

It should have a been a relatively easy job until I found out that B&Q no longer sells that bottle of lovely toxic chemicals that used to dissolve the remaining and persistent old sealant. Apparently "they don't do chemicals anymore" :roll: . Add to this the Stanley knife that gouged a slice in the shower tray, that then gouged a slice in my finger, it was one job I was glad to see the back of.

Anyway, on a cheerier note, Happy New Year to all.

I had a great (and different) Christmas: my daughter produced her first born son at 6.01pm on Christmas Eve, so I spent three hours at the hospital on Christmas Day waiting for her to be discharged (19 hours after giving birth?!).
