NHL plaster -recoat time

Hi, I'm replastering a stone wall with NHL based plaster (Lime Green Duro). Web advice on plaster recoat times is anything from 2-10 days, although 3-5 days is most common. My vague memory from doing another room is that I got the best results from leaving about 24 hours between coats, but it was a while ago and I'm wondering if I'm misremembering.

Any thoughts? If it makes any difference, final coat will be done using a putty based lime plaster, which I've found gives a nicer finish than the NHL based finish plasters.

When I rendered my chimney breast with NHL render it was ready for the next coat in 24 hours - the joy of NHL!

You don't want any major shrinkage that will lead to cracking in the top coat - As long as your keys good i've found it doesn't really matter if you start from a green hard or bone dry 3 month old base (wetted prior to skim)

Does this affect its longevity i don't know.

For the benefit of anyone reading this thread at a later date, I decided to leave 24 hours between coats of the base plaster, and another 24 hours before applying the finish plaster. Everything went on nicely and is currently looking good.

I'm pretty sure that I did try leaving it 5 days when plastering a previous room, and had problems controlling suction/drying out.
