Hi all -
We have some very large attic rooms which we think were the old servants rooms. We’re in a late Georgian townhouse 1826.
The attic is very hot in summer and freezing in winter. We had the roof stripped and recovered with a new breathable membrane. The ceiling is lime plastered and it’s in pretty good condition and there is almost bo space between the plastered ceiling and the membrane so we couldn’t put in any additional insulation.
The ceiling had polystyrene stuck all over it and it’s off now but there is the glue and residue all over the surface.
We want to investigate paneling the ceiling over the lime plaster and installing cork board insulation between the paneling and the lime plastered ceiling.
Can anyone advise if that’s safe to do - does it need additional ventilation.
Will it create damp trapped between the panelling and the cold ceiling ?
Any thoughts or ideas ?
