Good evening, hoping for a little advice on this as have done some reading up. We live in a timber-framed barn conversion, and given the angle of the roof typical of the style the bathroom are all squeezed into the roof effectively. As such we have a lot of oak on display around the bath and shower areas.
I have just re-fitted one of the bathrooms but before we start using it want to investigate how best to protect the wood. The one we have just done had no visible protection and a very old bathroom (probably 30 years old), the other bathroom has the same features and was done i would guess about 10 years ago, is in very good condition but the beams and oak door have obviously been treated with something, possibly Ronseal or similar as i found some in a cupboard when we moved here.
Would like to take advice on how to best protect the wood, have read some suggestions that are basically just to leave it and ensure adequate ventilation, others suggest waxing.
With thanks
