Sorry for the double post!

For what reason would you put screws in a 'newly' laid concrete floor?

I'm gonna put some wood flooring in downstairs when I've saved up the small mortgage wood floor seems to require these days but I've noticed that under the stairs going all along there are these screws in the concrete that would make laying a floor a bit difficult. Before I try yanking them out, do you think they could have a purpose?

It's never had anything on it, the suspended floor was ripped out and the concrete poured in abt 1 year before I bought the place but was vacant in the interim whilst they prepared it for sale

Sometimes used to get the concrete level (about 8 mins 30 onwards on this video) but the number and positioning doesn’t make sense in your case, looks to me more like carpet gripper fixings as suggested

Whatever they were for they won't be holding the floor down so should be OK to remove. I've no idea what they were for but they don't look like temporary fixings for a bit of wood used to align something like the plastering. Too close together and too regular for that.

We have some similar and odd screw fixings in a cupboard under the stairs here - they were used to fix a gun-cabinet in place. Such are also used with safes and other secure storage.

You won't be simply pulling those screws out - they will have to be cut.
