Repointing mortar fillet

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me. The mortar fillet above the lead flashing near our window has fallen out, and I believe it was cement mortar (see photos attached).

I’ve watched how to videos on repointing and was considering using a premixed bag of lime mortar. Would the same repointing technique apply in this case? Should I simply apply the mortar directly to the lead flashing?

Or should I consider a different approach? I have a bag of premixed Cornish lime mortar.

Mortar doesn't bond that well to lead. As it's quite a large joint there's also more shrinkage. I always found using a bonding agent on metal such as an SBR/cement mix helps really bond the mortar to the metal.
