Roof insulation

Hi. We have a house built in 1810. We currently have it on the market. In the loft under the slate tiles there is no insulation as I believe it wasn't used back then. Would this fail a homebuyers survey?

Certainly not, and I'd imagine quite a few surveyors won't even bother to go up there.

Unless the loft space is a habitable area, any insulation needs to be at joist level rather than under the slates.

You have nothing to worry about there if not habitable - I bought my house in August 2024 and no such thing is a legal requirement and would affect your sale - our loft was just a loft where the previous owner danced around in there while throwing sharp objects around for their future buyer to pick up. I would just make sure you don't have foam spray insulation.
