Roof restoration on an older Brisbane home – advice?

Hi everyone,

My house in Brisbane is old, and the roof is not in great shape. Some tiles are cracked, and I see stains that make me think water might get in soon. I don’t know if I should just repair the bad spots or do a full roof restoration.

A friend told me about Skylineroofrestorations because they had work done with them. It made me wonder if restoring the whole roof is smarter than doing small fixes. But restoration sounds expensive, and I don’t want to spend money if I don’t have to.

Has anyone here done a roof restoration on an older home in Brisbane? Did it last a long time? Or is it better to keep repairing little problems until the roof really needs replacing?

Stains on the upper exposed surface of tiles can be almost anything from simple dirt accumulation, animal/bird droppings, lichens and mosses, oily soots, all sorts. All of these are unlikely to damage any roofing material other than perhaps wooden shingles. If you're concerned about water penetration you need to examine the loft/attic space for indications of rain-water ingress. Unless the number of damaged/lost tiles is significant or there are indications that the underlying timbers of the roof have failed or moved significantly then there should be no need to consider replacing the entire roof. Simple repairs to replace lost or damaged tiles can be easily made by any competent roofer.
