I’m in the process of adding internal insulation to my solid 1860s sandstone walls. When I removed the lath and plaster, I noticed that the fireplace lintel(s) have vertical cracks running through their full height.
Is this something that needs addressing? The inglenook will be boarded over, so aesthetics aren’t Important in this case.
I’d appreciate any advice you can give.
