Sofa rejuvenation needed

Not strictly Period Property, but I wondered if by chance anyone could recommend an upholsterer in the Bath/ NE Somerset area? After a very long process of renovation we finally got the last contents of our container from Singapore delivered. The sofa cushions have not fared well during their incarceration and are covered in some very nasty dark pink spots, which look for all the world like red wine spray, but must actually be a type of mold. Not a tragedy as they were slated for new covers anyway, but more of an urgent mission now as I don’t want to sit on them as they are.

Indeed, I have spent ages making sure my butt is properly covered. That’s my new water butt you understand, I was showing pictures of it to Malcolm earlier :lol:

That's a nice butt. That's what got me started on the idea of covering a whole wall with plants.

Can't help a lot with sofas. I have a carpet cleaner with a sofa attachment and it wasn't expensive. The conditions in shipping containers are good for mould - hot, damp and no air circulation. Once everything gets out, dries and cools down the mould should die. Maybe an interim step to make them useable until you can have them re-covered.

There’s a very good chap in Farmborough - just outside Bath. I am sans social media these days so can’t dig out his details any more - pretty sure his name is Baxter, down at the end of the village, Hobbs Wall sort of way.

Brilliant, thanks so much. I had tried all the usual things one does with textile problems on an experimental cover and the spots faded but still very visible.

A thing got done, before Christmas. I had a bit of a tussle with his Lordship over the gold devoré velvet, he said it looked 'moth eaten' but I'm glad I overruled him.

Because the link imgur gives you is for the page containing the image, not the image itself. They don’t really like people linking directly to the image as then no one sees their ads
