Hi, any suggestions for insulating solid brick wall internally where there is very little space because of door frames etc. Literally only space for plaster, which I'm taking off thank you
Technically, aerogel plaster? Hideously expensive and never used it, but would love to hear from anybody who has..... (One wall by staircase where I have a similar dilemma).
Whilst there are plasters available that claim to be insulating, you need a considerable thickness to have any effect (50mm or more, lots more). For a 9" solid brick wall, you'd need to be looking at 80-150mm of insulation (depending on material used) to get anywhere near current recommended levels. Woodfibre or cork would be the recommended material as it won't trap moisture in the wall. But it doesn't perform as well as PIR/PUR boards (Celotex/Kingspan type), so you'd need 100-150mm to hit the target. Even if you can't go to that sort of thickness, even 25mm is better than nothing.
