Splash back for outdoor tap?!

This might be me getting a bit carried away on my damp prevention routine but when using the garden tap a lot of water tends to splash up the wall.

Apparently splashbacks for outdoor taps aren’t a thing - currently debating whether some artfully fixed spare slates against the wall might be a good thing or am I just way over the top now

I've sometimes had that thought, but then on reflection considered that when it rains hard in a wind the entire wall is drenched anyway.

I've noticed on some houses I've worked on that the brickwork around the outside tap is a lot damper than the rest. Although the bottom of the wall might be soaked all the way along by rain bounce, the bit by the tap is getting that plus the tap when it's not raining. Also the copper pipe in the wall can attract condensation, which will soak into the brickwork.

See now I’m back to thinking I should have one at least above the DPC

I did the slate thing because the steps used to get power washed before the pigeons decided to roost elsewhere. Easy to remove if you don’t like how it looks.
