I’m just dreaming and it’s gypsum, right? I’ve never removed plaster before. This is dark brown, sandy and crumbly. It’s damp too. It appears to have a scratch coat. Where I dug in deeper, it became drier the deeper I went. It changes colour and is not damp higher up the wall.
The layers above it come off as a unit and are paint, paint, pink (gypsum), grey and solid (cement?) then this layer.
