We are having casement windows in a 1906 property refurbished. A lot of rotten wood is being removed and replaced with new hardwood, a number of glass windows replaced, a couple of new casements, opening casements eased and adjusted. The work is nearly finished, but we have some concerns. At the bottom of the opening casements which get the most weather, after rain today there is water “pooling” under them on the frame, just the last half-cm of the depth of the casement, but visible and also can be felt at the bottom of the opening casements itself. Is this normal? You can see in this pic, bearing in mind that the undercoating is not yet finished, hence the bare wood (which is dry, but the painted edge is not). Don’t want to make a fuss with the sensitive soul doing the work unless necessary, but worried this will just rot the wood again?
