What was this chimney for?

I have and old photo of our house (17th century cottage), and on the side there is a single storey room that has this tall thin chimney coming out the roof. This chimney is no longer there. There are fireplaces (older than the photo) already in the house.
Anyone know what this chimney would have been for? Any suggestions appreciated!

It could have been the chimney for a copper for doing the laundry.

One of our chimney flues is iron lined for a copper that was built into the corner of the scullery that had its own drain into the interceptor. We found another rather rudimentary drain from an outhouse that was probably a wash house from when it was a lodging house (6 bedrooms back then) and absolutely heaving (per 1911 census).

Chances are as others have said, it relates to a copper in current guide, not to say it isn’t an early chimney that has been adapted over time. It’s probably too close to the main building to likely have been an external kitchen location/brewhouse/bakehouse…

A copper would be my guess. Question for the smart folks, would the copper also be used for brewing the wort as well as the laundry? Clean it out well pitch the barley and boil away.

My mother's electric 'copper' was used mostly for preserving fruit (in bottles) - no need for a special clean for that. Never used by my father for his brewing, not least as it would need another serious clean before it could ever be used for anything else.

At the moment there's nothing at the base of the location. It has long been turned into a driveway and has been a driveway for as long as any locals can remember, so doesn't leave any clues there.
