Wood Wool board adhesive?

Having applied a lime levelling coat to the solid brick wall of my interior gable end wall (having removed 2 inches of awful cement), I’m now about to fit 15mm wood wool boards before a final skim.

My levelling coat has upto 10mm deviations still(first time doing anything like this and it’s been much harder than anticipated).

I was planning on using just mechanical fittings, but I see Lime Green sell an adhesive product that can take up any small gaps left.

Is this something that is recommended?

Not really, putting wood wool boards onto solid brick is risky enough due to the change in capillary properties encouraging condensation at the interface - adding a plastic barrier there I would certainly avoid.

Fill the gaps with more lime.

My limited understanding is that the Lime Green adhesive product is a lime and sand based mix.

Check the product spec sheet for ingredients, if it’s lime and sand, then I doubt they’d label it an adhesive.

Pretty sure it’s NHL based to start. Likely with some poz or other setting additives. Not great for internal walls…

Easiest way would be just to “butter” the back of the boards with a lime plaster when you are applying and mechanically fixing the boards to these 10mm deviation areas.

I like Twigs idea above.

There's no reason why you can just use some proper lime plaster as the adhesive, maybe scratch up the base a little bit first if its smooth.

NHL limes have become more popular with the professionals recently but there's still a reluctance among many people to use them. I've used Lime Green Solo before, never looked at the ingredients but it goes off super fast in a plastic bucket for some reason.

Ty Mawr sell Isovit E-cork as a cork adhesive. Natural Hydraulic Lime, labelled as an adhesive and good permeability to water vapour apparently.
I suspect this, or somehting similar can be used on woodwool.

I would suggest giving Ty Mawr a call and see what they suggest. Then let us all know.
I've seem Isovit E-cork stuff used like tile adhesive where you rake it with a castelated trowel.

This not only allows you to attach to uneven walls, but it means any movement can be somewhat accommodated by the Isovit E-cork reducing the likeliness of cracking your finished plaster.
