The house we are buying is semi-detached 1820s cottage.
Solid walls and lime plaster inside.
Outside someone about 20 years ago decided to splat a modern porridge-like render all over it.
The house has some damp spots on external walls inside but not bad so would you.....
Get all the porridge removed and lime render and lime wash the outside even though next door that we are attached to is modern flat render.
OR
Get all the porridge off and modern smooth render the house like next door?
I am worried about making the house breathable and increasing damp levels further or causing an issue where the two homes join by using a different material to next door.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Chloe
