Greetings period property folk. I’m Pete and have not long since moved to a character property with the wife and young daughter.
It’s got lots of charm and a few issues that we will deal with after researching and learning what’s best. We initially wanted a side extension and after battling with the planning department, plans were past. We weren’t allowed french doors. Its in West Yorkshire, it’s not listed but is about 350 to 400 years old according to our surveyor.
The roof has snapped purlins which have been repaired but are still heavily sagged. The ridge beam is also cracked.
The gable wall is buckled and twisted plus it’s built off a huge Boulder poking out of the ground.
Our survey said.... Roof repairs and solid but leaves a sag. The wall shows no ongoing or recent movement.
It’s previous owners lived here for 45 years and it’s not been touched since the 80s.
It’s going to be hard work, with lots blood, sweat, tears, cursing and stacks of cash, but we love the place.
Not too sure how to add pictures onto here.
Thanks for reading, regards Pete
