Hi all,
We would like to redecorate a room in our house. So far, we haven't done any decorating since moving in just over two years ago. As far as I can work out, the previous owners rollered every wall with magnolia emulsion (presumably to cover the decorating choices of the people before them!).
I think the room we are dealing with may still have its lime plaster intact and we'd like to protect and maintain that if so. My questions are as follows:
1. Is there a way of finding out/testing whether the plaster is lime?
2. If it is, is there a way of removing modern, possibly vinyl based emulsion, from the walls?
3. If the answer to number 2 is no, is it acceptable to paint over with the same modern paint?
I should point out that our preference is to do things correctly and for the lime walls to breathe properly, but we're not sure at this stage what's feasible or not.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
Kind regards, Lucy
