Have one wall of an outbuilding that requires attention. Obviously water and then frost has taken its toll on the fabric. I have two routes of action one is to do a
traditional repair the other is to copy what has been done to the main house. The main house had around 40 years ago vertical battens attached to the clay lump.
On top of this had been attached strong galvanised mesh and then normal cement render applied to this. Obviously one can now use standard masonry paint on this
as opposed to limewash. I only discovered that the skin of the property was like this when putting in a ventilation hole for a hob extract. I wonder how many other
properties have this psuedo skin on them. I always thought odd when I found tins of masonry paint in a shed as opposed to limewash. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
