I live in a row of 4 terraced houses. The house to the left of me - according to the deeds to my property- has a 'Right to Pass' the wording is very brief and ambigious - in that the owner of that house has has a right to access and regress from the rear of their property via this right to pass. We want to put up a gate between our garden and the garden to the right to stop our 2 year old son getting access to the main road outside. As long as we provide the neihbours with a key for the gate so that their right to pass are not inhibited - can we legally do this without seeking their permission? (We know that they will not give us permission so we need to know legally if we can do this)
