I'm not really a city person, but visited Liverpool for the first time last week and really enjoyed it . . . though I was left wondering who thought it would be a good idea to build the new ferry building in such a way as to ruin the iconic view of the 'three graces' from the river.
Yes, definitely lots of fine architecture in Liverpool and just across the Mersey in Birkenhead is the highest concentration of listed buildings in the country - or so the tour guide told me!
I confess to not really understanding the tour guide's comment.
According to this Liverpool has over 2500 listed buildings, so 147 in Birkenhead doesn't seem so impressive.
