I'm sure some of this has been addressed elsewhere but I'm having difficulties finding it so:
My house is a conversion of three small (now linked) nineteenth century granite-built barns. Unfortunately our recent lively Cornish weather has now made the external walls so wet that in some parts the damp is seeping through into the house. The worst area is on an West-facing wall (which means its hit be the majority of wind and rain). The damp seems to be seeping around the top edge of the granite slab above the window (see photos).
1. Any suggestions for how to prevent this in the future?
2. Once its dried out, what is the best way to repair the internal damage to the paint?
3. What is the best way to repair the bubbling paint in this sort of building generally? Overall, the house is dry and well ventilated (lots of drafts, too), but there are some areas where the paint is starting to bubble, particularly where the previous owners used acrylic-based paint on the walls. Any suggestions on how I remedy it? Can I scrape off the affected area, fill it and repaint?
