Apologies if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find any posts that match my exact query.
I've just removed the wallpaper from the hallway of my 1880's townhouse. The lime plaster is in generally good condition, but of course there are cracks and voids in places....holes from picture hooks, fixings etc. I'm going to use lime filler (from Chalk hill lime) to fill the finer cracks and small holes. However, I don't know what to use for bigger holes.
Also, where clumsy re-wiring was done in the past, the channels have been badly pastered over and sit proud. I intend to chip most of this out....or at least sand back to a smooth finish. There are also larger voids where the wall meets skirting boards, with some gaps up to about 1" width, x 1/2 inch depth.
What is the best way to fill these gaps and best products to use?
Any pointers much appreciated.
Stuart
