Hi,
I’m new to the forum so hello to you all. We are in our 5th year of slowly rebuilding/renovating our granite property built in 1800. Due to lots of regulations we have had to cover up all internal walls but we have been allowed to keep the fireplaces. We have decided to leave two exposed as features in our open plan kitchen.
However, we are at a loss with what to do next to renovate the stonework and make it a feature. We had planned to create a wood surround and had hired someone to do this but then lockdown happened and we’ve not made any further progress as my husband would like to do it himself instead.
I’ve attached photos. Any ideas on how to make it a feature and also how to stop bits of chimney coming down would be gratefully appreciated. We do have chimney sheep in place to reduce draft but will need to do more. We were thinking of storing wood in one and turning the other into a wood stove (dependant on permissions).
Kindest regards,
Fleur
